So, as you probably know I am a mom to three beautiful puppies, Boss, Bella and Ares. They are mainly well behaved dogs, but sometimes they can be a handful. The problem with having three dogs(especially aged 3 years , 1,5 years and 4 months old) is that they learn and copy everything from each other. So, when one starts to bark, the next second all three are barking and that’s no easy to stop.
Today I decided to get some professional help, so I bought an interesting book on how to train dogs.
Lets start from the beginning.
First what you need to know that every dog is capable of learning all the tricks in the world, it all depends on the trainer (his mom/dad). The learning process consists of three key elements: the first is the trainers command, the second is the activity of the dog and the third is the prize (cookie, treat).
In the beginning you need to reward your dog for every step of progress he/she shows,so that he understands that learning means rewards. Also a very important detail is that you need to reward your dog the very moment he or she does something right, not 10 seconds later.
And last but not least, you should make an effort, don’t give up easily!
10 RULES OF DOG TRAINING:
1. You should reward your dog with the treats he likes.
2. You should reward only the correct performance.
3. You should reward your dog immediately after the correct performance.
4. You should do the training before your dogs meal time.
5. You should do the training before play time.
6. You should stop the exercise before your dog loses interest.
7. You should be consistent.
8. You should motivate your dog with a ‘happy’tone of voice.
